Biography and information

Painter, graphic artist. Born in Ukraine to a Polish family. In 1885 – 1888 he studied at ORCHIES, then continued her education in Warsaw. In 1889 he came to Paris. In 1891, having inherited from his father, used the money to emigrate to France. She studied at the Academy R. Julien, Jean-Paul Laurent. From 1891 entered the circle of the staff of the magazine "La Revue Blanche", he met A. Toulouse-Lautrec. 1895 – 1900 was a member of the Nabis group together with P. ceruse, M. Denis, P. Bonnard. In the Polish circles of the capital he found friends, among whom were M. Curie, with whom he established friendly relations for many years, Apollinaire. He easily entered the circle in connection with P. Signac, Pissarro K., J. Bujaru, P. Bonnard. Under the influence of P. Signac practiced pointillism. Painted impressionistic landscapes of Brittany and the South of France, portraits and still lifes, often painted interiors and scenes of motherhood. Since 1900, found its place among the post-Impressionists. In 1902 – 1911 worked in the open air in Barbizon, he became friends with K. Kuznetsov. From 1895 exhibited at the salons: Autumn, Independent, the Tuileries, the National Islands of fine arts, participated in group exhibitions in France. In the 1920 – 1940s attained great fame.In 1925 introduced the etchings in the pavilion "book Art" International exhibition of decorative arts in Paris. In 1934 he founded in Collioure, in the South of France, HMM.
