Vladimir
Mitrofanovich Petrov

Russia • 1920−1997

Born in the village of Sergeevka Astrakhan region.

Studied at Astrakhan art school (1934-1939), Participated in the Finnish and great Patriotic wars. After the victory studied at the Riga Academy of Arts, which he graduated from in 1949 he Lived and worked in Tashkent. He taught at the Tashkent Art College (1949-86).

“The Museum of Modern Art” in Oxford, UK, presented the artist's works at the exhibition “Soviet Realism in painting” in 1992. "Overland Gallery" of the United States in 1993, he exhibited paintings by V. M. Petrov in the exhibition "Russian and Soviet realism" "The Search For Hidden Treasure Russians" Gallery "Gekkoso" Tokyo in 1977 and in 1980 he exhibited the artist's work in Japan.

Many paintings are exhibited private collections of the citizens of Germany, Spain, Italy, Israel and Canada. Paintings Petrov V. M. acquired by the museums of Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, St. Petersburg, Moscow.

Born in 1920 in the village of Sergeevka Astrakhan region. Ten years, left without parents, was brought up in an orphanage.

In 1939 he graduated from the Astrakhan art school, where studied under direction of Pavel Vlasov, who at one time was a teacher of such prominent Russian artists as B. Kustodiev, Feshin, Goriushkin-Sorokopudov, Kurilko, Chuikov.

In November 1939 he was drafted into the red Army.

From 1941 to 1945 he fought in the great Patriotic war.

Fought on the territory of Belarus, Ukraine, Stalingrad and Kursk.

The end of the war met in the Baltic region.

In November 1945 he was demobilized from the army and enrolled at the 2nd course of the Latvian State Academy of Arts.

In 1949 he brilliantly defended his thesis and began teaching drawing and painting at the Art school in Uzbekistan.

77 years of life, nearly fifty active work, the years of creative search as an artist and teacher.

For 37 years, Petrov V. M. taught drawing, painting and composition at the Tashkent art College.

He died in Tashkent in 1997.

Since 1949, he participated in numerous all-Union and international art exhibitions.

Petrov's works are in private collections in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, UK, Canada, USA, and also in museums of Uzbekistan, Russia (Moscow and Saint-Petersburg), Kazakhstan, Belarus, Latvia etc.
