Biography and information

Painter. Member of the Union of artists of the USSR. Honored art worker of the Latvian SSR.

Studied in Studio of V. Tone (1919 – 20) and in Latvia art Academy (1921 – 22). He studied in Italy (1927 – 29) and Paris (1929 – 35), register for private Studio Academie de la Grande Schaumiere.

In 1927 – 39 years the artist lived abroad.

In the exhibitions of the R. Pinnis participated since 1930.

Personal exhibitions are organized in Riga (1936, 1939, 1959, 1973 (with E. Pinnis, closed on opening day), 1975, 1976, together with E. Pinnis, 1983, together with E. Pinnis, 1987, 1990, 1992, 1993), Moscow (1959), Jelgava (1962, together with E. Pinnis, 1989) and Bauska (1962, together with E. Pinnis), Tukums and Liepaja (1962), Sigulda (1964, together with E. Pinnis), Jurmala (1973, together with E. Pinnis, 1987), Tallinn (1976, together with E. Pinnis), Koknese (1987), Madona (1989), Munich (1991), Hamburg (1992).

In 1940, 41 years R. Pinnis was head of the Department of Fine art at the Artistic Affairs of the LSSR. He was one of the founders of the Union of artists, member since 1946, 1950, are excluded, in 1954, resumed.
