Painter, graphic artist, honored. worker of arts of RSFSR. Graduated from Moscow. The vkhutein (1930), a disciple of I. Efimova and A. Shevchenko. From 1928 to participate in exhibitions. From 1936 he taught at the Mosk. hood. the Institute, since 1948 in Moscow. textile Institute. Author of landscapes, still lifes, portraits, genre compositions - "Solikamsk motive" (1934), "self-Portrait" (1938), "In the garden at the table" (1940), "Model" (1940), "the war is Over" (1946), "Aspen" (1962), "Another April" (1971) and other works.

Honored artist of the RSFSR. In 1930 graduated from the Higher art technical studios in Moscow in the class of easel painting V. A. Shevchenko.

In 1936 he joined the Moscow branch of Union of Artists of the RSFSR. In 1936-1948, she was a Professor of painting and composition at the Moscow state art Institute (nowadays – the Moscow state art Institute im. V. I. Surikov). Together with S. V. Gerasimov was preparing the first edition of the legendary Institute. Among the students of V. V. Pochitalova outstanding artists of the twentieth century G. M. Korzhev, E. I. Zverkov, V. M. Sidorov, V. F. Stozharov, A. P. and S. P. Tkachev.

Well-known painter. In his work he was influenced by p. P. Konchalovsky.

Works are in Arkhangelsk Museum of fine arts, Kostroma regional Museum of fine arts, resurrection art gallery, Bryansk Museum of fine arts, Novgorod historical-architectural Museum-reserve, etc.
