Ivan
Semenovich Sablukov

Russia • 1735−1777

During the formation of Russian art in the middle of the XVIII century took place a most interesting case, a group of court choristers-adolescents, because of their maturation with concomitant breaking of the votes transferred to teaching art. Among young men was Ivan Semenovich Sablukov, who was a student of the famous painter count P. B. Sheremetev, I. P. Argunov. Incredibly, the experiment paid off: many choir members have achieved great success in their new art, eventually becoming academics painting. Such a path has passed and I. Sablukov.

In 1762 he became an associate of the Academy, and in 1765 received the title of academician of portraiture. Unfortunately, work, obviously belonging to the brush S. I. sablukova, and come down to our time, just a few. The play portraits give us some idea of the talent and style of the artist. Note that in those same years, and Sablukov, the title of associate and then received a academician and F. S. Rokotov, one of the best Russian portrait painters. Some indirect conclusions can be drawn from this comparison.

I must say that in the first decade of the reign of Catherine II was created the system of arts education in the country, grew up Academy, attempts were made to create an artistic classes and schools in the country. Organizer of the first provincial drawing school in Kharkov Collegium and became in 1767 Sablukov. And for that, it is our appreciation.
