Honored artist of the Russian Federation since 2004). B. in Kursk in a family of art teachers. In Kursk, in 1982 graduated from hudojestvennoy school and in 1986 from Zheleznogorsk art College. In 1989 – 1995 he studied at the Russian Academy of painting, sculpture and architecture, after which he left there to teach at the Department of landscape painting. After graduate school (1997 – 1999) A. was awarded the title of Professor of painting from his appointment to the position of head of landscape workshop. A. paintings can be divided into three groups: the lyrical landscapes; landscapes associated with Russian history, and religious subjects. In 1993 – 1994 A. writes a series of landscapes on the Kursk land. A. annually participates in art exhibitions in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. In 2001 his paintings were reproduced in the album "Modern Russian realism" in 2003 were issued personal album "Alexander Afonin and side. New names of Russian realism". Both albums were published in Moscow.
