Honored. art worker of the RSFSR (1932). He graduated from the Moscow school of painting (1882). Join the Wanderers, in 1883-93 Exhibitor of some of their shows. In 1898-1912 and from 1925 he worked in the Moscow art Theater. The founder of the "naturalistic" style Mhta period of the "fourth wall".
