From 1845 to 1849 studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of arts, where they often communicated with K. A. Trutovsky. In 1863 S. with a group of Russian artists, among whom were his countrymen-the smoke S. O. Borodaevsky and V. G. Schwartz, visited France in Barbizon on full-scale sketches.
