Fedor
Igorevich Stravinsky

Russia • 1907−1989

Painter, graphic artist, scenographer. Born in St. Petersburg. The eldest son of composer Igor Stravinsky. From 1913 he lived in Switzerland from the 1920s in France, where he was fond of painting. The first artist teachers were J. Marriage, A. Derain and Pablo Picasso. In 1930 – 1932 he studied at the Academy-Studio of A. Lot. He painted portraits, still lifes, circus scenes and landscapes in a realistic manner, occasionally turned to book illustration. In 1940, he held a solo exhibition in new York (gallery Реrls), in 1941 in Toulouse, Geneva and Zurich. During the Second world war he moved to Switzerland. After the war, he finally settled in Geneva, became a Swiss citizen, he continued to paint, and designed productions in theaters of Geneva, Zurich, Milan, including ballets by Igor Stravinsky, created stained glass Windows and mosaics for churches of Switzerland, Holland, Italy and France. Received the order of Arts and Literature of the French Academy (1979) and the order of St. Gregory the Great for serving the art of the Catholic Church (1977). Work is represented in the collections of the library of the University of Geneva, Museum of contemporary art in Geneva, Museum of art and history in Geneva, the Vatican picture gallery.
