Ekabovich Ubann

Painter. Member of the Union of artists of the USSR. People's artist of the Latvian SSR, laureate of the State prize of the Latvian SSR, Professor.

In 1902, 10 years he studied at the commercial school of the Odins, then half a year at the art school of Odessa, in 1911, 14 years in the Riga city art school. Study prekraschaet war and he continues in the art school of Penza (1915 – 16).

In 1916, the artist was drafted into the army. After returning to Latvia in 1918, K. Ubans actively involved in the artistic life.

In 1922, the artist goes on a study visit to Germany and France.

In 1920 the 25 years he works as a Deputy Director in the City art Museum.

Since 1925, K. Ubans began working as a lecturer at the Latvian Academy of arts, and makes this his entire life, since 1940 he became an associate Professor in the Department of painting, since 1946 – Professor.

He has received several awards of the Soviet regime.

K. Ubans was a member of the group of Riga artists (1919 – 39), participated in exhibitions of the society of Independent artists, the society “Sadarbs” and “Zaļā vārna”. He was a member of the Union of artists since 1944.

Personal exhibitions are organized in Riga (1920, 1923, together with L. Liberta, 1957 – 58, 1963 – 64, 1965, together with P. Upitis, 1969, 1973, 1980, 1983, 1993 – 94), Cesis (1943), Ruen (1970), Liepaja (1971), Koknese (1981).

Memorable exhibitions – in the Dale are (1987), Madona, Liepaja (Ob 1994), Portland (USA, 1999).
