Frans Pourbus[1] Senior (Frans Pourbus I) (1545, Bruges — September 19, 1581, Antwerp) — Flemish painter.
Son of Peter Pourbus, the father of the more famous Frans Pourbus the Younger.
The artist's son of Pieter Pourbus, was born in his house in Bruges, and at first studied painting with his father. He then began to study with Frans Floris in Antwerp. Since 1569 a member of the Guild of St. Luke in Antwerp.
