People's artist of Russia, honored artist of the RSFSR, member of the Academy of Eurasia, Ph. D. (1955).

In 1939, Fomkin enrolled in mshsh, where he studied together with Vladimir Ivanov, G. Korzhavin, A. Sukhanov, P. Ossowski and others, later formed the famous first military issue 1944. In the same year, on the recommendation of S. V. Gerasimov was enrolled in MGHI them. V. I. Surikov without entrance examinations in the specialty, he studied under A. Maksimov, A. Osmerkin and P. Kotova.

A. I. Fomkin was born in 1924 in the village of Elizavetino maloarkhangel district, Oryol region. In 1929 the family moved to Moscow. In 1939, Fomkin, he entered the Moscow secondary art school, where he studied together with Vladimir Ivanov, G. Korzhavin, A. Sukhanov, P.
