Was a volunteer at the Central school of technical drawing of Baron Stieglitz. Academician of engraving from 1905

In 1887-1892 he was a volunteer TSUTR Baron Stieglitz, he studied in the class of woodcut and etching at Vasily mathe, received a number of awards. In 1890 he worked for different publishing houses for magazines. From 1895 artist-engraver of the Expedition of storing State papers in St. Petersburg. In 1902 and 1906 AH sent abroad for improvement in the technique of etching. Executed engraved portraits artists, portraits of members of the Imperial family. Performed the engraved copies of paintings of the Hermitage and the Russian Museum, painting to postcards, was engaged in ex-libris. Occasionally he turned to painting - he painted landscapes, flowers and portraits. Participated in the Spring exhibitions in the halls of Academy and exhibitions of the Association of artists, member of "Mossanovski Mondays", was a founding member of the Russian artistic and industrial society. In 1905 the idea mate, was elected academician. In 1909 he received the French order of "Les Palmes Academiques". Held the rank of court counselor. In 1920 went to Paris, then to USA, where he executed portraits of American aristocracy. Recent years spent in Paris, where he headed the Society of Russian artists. I. Turgenev.
