In 1951 he graduated from Kyiv art Institute, where he studied under A. Shovkunenko, T. Yablonskaya. A veteran of WWII. Among his most famous works – themed paintings, 1950s – 1960s: "Altitude", "blast furnace men", "Miners", "Hockey". At the end of the 1960s, the artist has created a series of pastels with views of Moscow. After a series of creative business trips abroad has created a series of pastels with views of France and Czechoslovakia. M. Chepik stored in the collection of the Kiev Museum of Russian art, as well as in many art museums of Russia and Ukraine, in private collections in England and the United States.
