Description of the artwork «Peasant women in a grove. 51X75»
The work "Peasant Women in the Grove" was painted by the artist Pavel Shmarov in the year of his death. He is poor and old, forgotten by his contemporaries, and lives in seclusion in the suburbs of Paris. Shmarov failed to integrate into French society, and his ties with Russia were lost over time. Despite the harshness of such a life, there is not a single minor note in Shmarov's paintings. They are idealistic sketches of Russia in all its splendor, full of tenderness, light and life. It is the blooming freshness of nature, the tenderness and mystery of the Russian girl, the anticipation of joy and happiness.
His longing for his homeland is reflected in his works inspired by Russia. Simple and beautiful peasant girls are the embodiment of the artist's abandoned homeland, which he recreated over and over again in his works.
The young girls in bright national clothing on his canvases are usually depicted in moments of leisure: by the river, on a walk in the field and in the grove. They are laughing and enjoying life, and the riot of pure, bright colors like the energy itself emphasizes the joy of being.
Of course, the plot of this work has little to do with reality. Pavel Shmarov's peasant women are always resting and laughing, while the real girls worked hard from dawn to dusk. The clothes of the peasant girls are bright and contrasting, the combination of green and red colors is inspired by the impressionistic coloring. In fact, girls living in the same area traditionally wore clothes of the same type and color, and such a riot of colors in one place was hard to imagine. Finally, "Peasant Women in the Grove" is also illusory due to the artist's disregard for the laws of physics. The light in this painting does not fall from above or from the side, it is born in the middle between the two girls, so there is a feeling that the painting seems to glow from the inside.
