Academician of perspective and landscape painting Stepan Mikhailovich Sukhostav in his youth was a pupil of the Moscow school of painting and sculpture (the addition in the title — architecture — will appear only in 1865). From the Academy of arts in 1850 received the title of class artist. The subsequent work of the painter quickly brought him success. In 1853 S. Sukhostav gets the title of "appointed" in academics. Two years later (1855) the artist becomes academic. About the direction of his work just say the name of S. M. Sukhostav: "Interior view of the assumption Cathedral Trinity Lavra", "the inside of the Cathedral of the St. Sergius Lavra", "the Interior of the Church of Gethsemane skete, View inside the Archangel Cathedral in Moscow." The artist's work was popular with audiences and in demand among collectors. In our days they are represented in the collections of many art collections in the country.
