Has received training in the Imperial Academy of Arts and was pupil of G. Kozlov . In 1795, for study of the naked human figure is recognized as assigned to the Academy, and in 1797 for his painting: ""Travellers in a storm"" (in the Academy Museum) erected in a rank of the academician. Mainly engaged in the painting of the Church. He has written, among other things, several images for the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg. In the Tretyakov gallery, in Moscow, is owned by his portrait of Emperor Paul I when he was crown Prince.
