Biography and information

Born in Makarov, Kiev province. In 1905, attended private school in Kiev. In 1912 he arrived in Paris and settled in "La Ruche". During the First world war in his workshop lived H. Soutine. Was friends with P. Flint and A. Modigliani. Attended the Academy Grand Chaumiere and F. colarossi. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes. In 1921 he participated in the exhibition of Russian art in London. In 1934 – 1942 he rented a workshop in the street dOdessa in Montparnasse. In 1942 – 1944 he lived in the Dordogne. On his return to Paris in the shelter of the city of Maisons-Laffitte painted portraits of children whose parents died in concentration camps. Exhibited in the Salons: Independent and Autumn. Held solo exhibitions in many Parisian and London galleries. Presented at the Museum of modern art in Troyes, the museums of Boulogne-Billancourt, new York and tel Aviv.
