People's artist of the Latvian SSR.

(1894.17.Jan kuldīga – 1993.16.April in Riga), painter.

Went to school in Liepaja, worked in the liepāja theatre, and later in the railway administration. Art started in adulthood.

In 1927 – 32 in studies in the Latvian Academy of arts, where he completed his Landscape painting Studio of V. Purvitis with diploma work "Work" ("Old Jelgava sugar factory").

During studios journey through Europe – Germany, Holland, Belgium.

Member of the art society "Zala Varna" ("Green Crow"), exhibited paintings in all exhibitions of the society.

Personal exhibition in Riga 1933, 1934, 1942, 1964, 1970, 1975, 1979 G.

Commemorative exhibition in Ogre 1994

People's artist of the Latvian SSR since 1970, the State prize of the Latvian SSR in 1980

Sometimes wrote, and still lifes,but glavnyi genre painting V. Kalnroze landscape, especially where the reflected water of the sea, bays, rivers, cities. Especially slim and tone color, texture, paste-like silver composition in the oil technique, complemented by bright colorful accents.
