Ivanovich Kandaurov

(1863, S. Pokrovskoe Kherson province. - 1930/36?) - Russian artist and Illustrator

From 1881 to 1884 he studied at the Odessa drawing school, from 1884 to 1885 at the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture volunteer, where he received a large silver medal for painting from life. In 1885 he enrolled as a volunteer at the Academy of arts. In 1887 he was awarded a medal for his work on "batalicheskih class", and in 1888 - for the painting "Artillery on the March during the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878". From 1894 he studied with A. I. Kuindzhi (study partner Roerich), since 1895 he studied at the mosaic Department under p. P. Chistyakov. He received the title of class artist of the 3rd degree for the painting "the Call (Western Cossacks cause the enemy to fight)" and "Fire" in 1896 year, the title of the artist for the painting "After the funeral feast on the tomb of the Scythian chieftain (the festival of the dead)". In 1895-1895 he received the right to a pensioner's trip from the Academy of fine arts.

Anton Kandaurov lived in St. Petersburg, Tiflis and Yaroslavl. In 1901-1907 he organized, he led his part of the Tiflis art school and taught in it. He has exhibited his works at exhibitions of the Academy of arts, the Association of traveling art exhibitions, the art World (including in Berlin in 1896).

Artist-artist of the Bolshoi theatre (1887-1889) and the Maly theatre (1920-1926). Illustrated the works of A. S. Pushkin, I. A. Krylov, M. Yu. Lermontov, L. N. Tolstoy. Around 1910 fulfilled a number of historical and allegorical paintings for the Church-mausoleum in Pleven.
