Comes from the ancient boyar family of Language. Childhood and adolescence spent in Switzerland.

On his return to Russia he studied at the artist with Professor S. I. Yakovlev.

After the great October Socialist Revolution took the pseudonym Marisa and gained fame as a painter of battle scenes. Later for a short time was married to a Soviet functionary I. Krasnokutskaya.

Buried at the cemetery Vagankovsky.
