Gerasimovich Zharkov (Zharkoy

Russia • 1742−1802

Russian artist, master of miniatures. He studied at St. Petersburg Academy of arts (1769 — 1777). In 1779 he was entrusted by the class of miniature painting with the title of academician for "piesy picturesque on enamel, representing a generational portrait of a seated hunter music." In 1785 was appointed Advisor to the Academy of fine Arts. In 1790 Zharkov led the newly established class of painting on enamel. The painter belongs to one of the best portraits of Peter I.
