Student F. I. Grotto, a painter of animals and birds, like him, worked in St. Petersburg, where at that time the Imperial court was a request for works in his specialty. In 1770 defined in the Academy of fine Arts teacher; in 1773, recognized as "designated" for the painting "the Bologna dog with a dead bird". In 1774 the Imperial Academy of arts was elevated to the title of academician for the painting "Live Fox, rasteryalas histoy her yard duck" and entrusted him with teaching her painting of animals and birds. In 1785 he was Advisor to the Academy, and in 1795 because of the abolition of painting class, which he taught, was dismissed. He worked primarily in watercolour and gouache. He owns, among others, drawings of "Flora Rossica", published by the Academy of Sciences.
