Honored artist of the Kazakh SSR (1960).

Born in the city of Barnaul.

He studied at the Barnaul art Studio of the painter A. N. Borisov (1935 – 1937), the Kiev art Institute in the class of the theatre (1937 – 1938).

In 1934 he designed the first theatre production of "Robin hood" in an Amateur theatre of young spectator, one of the founders of which he was.

1936 - head of the paint shop, Altai state drama theatre.

The participant of the great Patriotic war, he fought on the Leningrad, and Belorussian fronts, in the far East.

1962 - chief designer of the Altai state drama theatre, in 1975 he became the chief artist of the city of Barnaul. More than 50 years he worked as an artist in the field of theatrical-decorative painting. They feature over two hundred performances in different theatres of the country - Almaty, Tselinograd, Pavlodar, Barnaul, Irkutsk, Kuznetsk, Biisk, Rubtsovsk and other.

B. M. Astakhova and was fond of classic and contemporary dramatic material. He has designed productions of the plays of W. Shakespeare, V. Hugo, A. Pushkin, Ostrovsky, A. Melnikov-Pechersky, N. Hikmet, A. Vampilov, V. Shukshin, V. Rozov, A. Stein, A. Makaenka and others.

B. M. Astakhov - permanent member, she is the winner of the Siberian and all-Russian art exhibitions, the master and a recognized leader in theatrical-decorative art of Siberia. The last theatrical work of the artist were the sketches of scenery to the play "I come to give you freedom" (1988), the novel by V. M. Shukshin - statement remained unfulfilled.

In recent years, he increasingly turned to easel painting. Impressions and memories of the war years lie at the basis of this work.

B. M. Astakhov awarded the order of Patriotic war 2-nd degree, medals "For victory over Germany in the great Patriotic war 1941-1945", "For development of virgin lands", "Twenty years of victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945".

Member of the Union of artists of Russia since 1970.

Lived and worked in Barnaul.

He died in 1998.
