Nikolay Georgievich (Egorovich) Tikhonov was born on 16 Oct 1892 in Verbilki village of Dmitrovskiy district of Moscow province in the family of a tradesman of the town of Kalyazin of the Tver province Egor (George) of T. Tikhonova (Mankov).
Labor activity
In 1906 he entered the Imperial Stroganov Central school of industrial art (ICHPW) in class I and courses for lovers of drawing.
In 1908 – 1916, worked in workshops ISCHU the firm Olovyanishnikov.
In 1915 – 1917 he taught in the preparatory Department ISCHU.
In 1916 he graduated from ISCHU with the Diploma of I degree and a Gold medal in the specialty "Artist of applied art" and received the title "academic painter."

Creative and public work
In 1913 – 1917 developed the sketches and draft paintings, iconostasis and Church utensils of the Church, constructed under the project of academician of architecture of V. A. Pokrovsky.
In 1914, wrote the first still life "Bouquet of roses with porcelain Cup on a dark background".
In 1915 – 1917 he participated in the design of the new building under construction in Bryansk station.
In 1918 he developed sketches and did paintings and propaganda posters on the Yaroslavl railroad on the instructions of the Propaganda Department of the Central Executive Committee.
