Painter, representative of the dynasty Ostashkov painters. B. in S. Kravotyn Ostashkov. in a family of serfs Pafnutiev - Borowski mon. (freestyle received in 1773), studied at family and. Ostashkov painters, then in 1725-41 - Petersburg artists I. Nikitin, L. Caravaque, V. Vasilevsky. From the early 1740s one of the leading painters of St. Petersburg, where he had a Studio (approx 20 students). Participated in the design of the Tsarskoye Selo Palace, triumphal gate pulse. Elizabeth in Moscow, Petersburg and Kiev churches and cathedrals, portraits. Among the surviving works of K.-"portrait of an unknown" (1750-s, SHM), "Portrait of Sergei Yakovlev" (1767, RM), "Portrait of Aleksey Bobrinsky as a child" (1760-e, TG), icons, St. Nicholas's, etc., In Tver.obl.cards.Gal.-"Portrait of Prince Meshchersky I. Mina Kolokolnikov he studied iconography and painting in the town of Ostashkov in 1720-ies. After moving to St. Petersburg, worked under the guidance of I. N. Nikitin (1725-1732), L. Caravaque (1734-1742), may, I. Ya. Vishnyakova. In 1753 he was liberated. Was known for numerous souchastiye in performing work associated with decoration of official events and celebrations, for example, the coronation of Elizabeth, in the design of churches and temples and writing for them icons. Success had many portraits painted by Mina Kolokolnikov. Among them — the portraits of Empress Elizabeth (1753), Prince Meshchersky I. T.
