Sculptor-animal painter, author of genre compositions. Born in Moscow, son of the Director of the office of the Imperial theatres in Moscow. Graduated from the 4-th Moscow gymnasium and entered the medical faculty of Moscow University, where a sophomore was fascinated by the sculpture and decided to change profession. An auditor student of the Imperial Academy of arts (1864). After studying there for the winter, on the advice of his father went to Paris, where he studied at the drawing school of the sculptor-the animal painter A.-L. Bari (1865-1870), draws in museums and from life in the Paris zoo, sculpts 15 sketches of animals. Under the patronage of F. A. Bruni gets a small workshop in the Imperial Academy of arts (1871). First appeared on the academic exhibition (1872) the works of "Horse-Bashkir", "Dog" and "lion devouring a Gazelle", for which he was awarded the Academic Board large silver runner-up medal. Participated in XI exhibition TPHV ("Greyhound Fox", 1883), exhibitions of IAH and the joint E. A. Lanceray exhibition (1886), where Ober has presented more than 30 works that brought him popularity, recognition and the title of academician of the sculpture (1893). Worked in Paris (1894-1899), was cast 10 sculptures in ceramic workshop A. bigot. Participated in exhibitions of society "World of art" (1900).
