Biography and information
[Nast. FAM. - Efimova; p. 25. VII (6. VIII). 1897] Honored artist of the RSFSR (1958). In 1926 he graduated from the theatre faculty of the higher art and technical Institute (a student of F. F. Fedorovsky and A. V. Lentulov). In 1927-28 - artist of the Moscow art Theater 2nd, 1929-33 - "Blue blouse". Already in the first work W. - the decoration of the play "the break" (1931, T-R them. Kupala) - revealed features characteristic of all subsequent works of the artist: clarity and conciseness of the composition, the use of architectural forms and stage space, the poetry, the beauty of the scenery. W. was the chief artist of the Moscow circus (1935-37), the Moscow drama theater (1946-57).
He has designed productions: "Sedov" Podolsky (1938, Gossen-theatre), "Comedy of errors" by Shakespeare (1939, Moscow. t-R them. Bauman), "the Spaniards" by Lermontov and "Chapaev" on Furmanov (1942, Astrakhan theatre for young people), "Baltic Deputy" Rakhmanova (1946), "the Beggar and the Prince" Mikhalkov ("Tom Kenti", 1949). "Blue porcelain" Grigulis (1949), "the Eve of storm" Malerische (1951), "without naming names" Minko (1953), "Intrigue and love" (1955); "Lord of the dead" Nusic (1956), "All my sons", Miller (1957) - all in Moscow.
