Biography and information

In 1900 the title of teacher of drawing in secondary schools. He was a teacher in the Pskov grammar school for 25 years. (Kondakov)

Drawing teacher in the city schools, was a native of the province of Pskov, Nevel. Studied in Vitebsk, then in St. Petersburg at the art school, after graduating he began to work in one of St. Petersburg printers. A few years later he married the daughter of the owner of the printing house.

Marriage this was a kind of "misalliance": his young wife Feodosiya Petrovna Chebyshev came from a family of well-known Kaluga landlords. One of her uncles was a famous academician P. P. Tchebyshev, another brother of the father – he taught at the St. Petersburg artillery Academy, the aunt was married to N. N. Goncharov, brother N. N. Goncharova, Pushkin's wife.

Soon after his marriage Ivan moved to Pskov. The family has developed a loving, close-knit, almost Patriarchal, in which, as they say, reigned the husband and wife rules. There were many children – twelve. But two died in infancy.

The house was on Zapskovye, at the corner of Elias (now the streets of Labor) and Forest (now the street Volkova). The house was two stories but small. The family occupied the upper floor – five rooms and a mezzanine. Despite its small abundance, grandpa wanted and gave! all children a good education: his daughter got his high-school education, and sons of the highest. Arkady graduated from Yuryev (Tartu) University, the second son of Boris – Moscow, received a law degree, the younger Alex and Paul, of St. Petersburg, also on the legal part.

Daughters, Claudia, Alexandra, Antonina, Catherine, Valentina, and Olga received a full secondary education in the Mariinsky gymnasium.

His mother Feodosiya Petrovna, the kids loved, thought was my best friend, my dad, even though feared, yet deeply respected. To him it was customary to refer to "you". A permanent member of the family was hired to the first-born nanny, a young girl Natasha, who in our house lived to a ripe old age, and I remember her as "aunt Natasha", which he loved no less, and sometimes more than native women.

When the kids were born, the house became cramped with a nice warm mezzanine, fenced off in the middle of the house another bedroom has attached workshop for grandpa. Loved the family and place on Zapskovye is surrounded by four churches: Kosmodemyanskaya, Elias, and Epiphany of the Savior.

Soul, its core was, of course, grandpa Ivan. He died a hundred years ago, in December 1900. Grandpa restored the icons, collected ancient ecclesiastical and secular books. I remember his workshop in the former kept the newspaper, another hand-written on parchment made from calf skin leather, closed with silver clasps, bound. There were a lot of paintings and a grandfather, and given to him by famous artists.
