Ivanovich Anichkov

Biography and information

Descended from an old noble family Aniskovich. Born in the family estate Zalozenie Ten-Pyatnitskaya volost of Borovichsky uyezd. Graduated From SPb. University and Conservatory, he was a highly educated man, possessed of all the European languages. Learned to paint from his friend, artist O. E. Braz.

There is evidence that A. I. Anichkov was exhibited at the Paris Salon

(early twentieth century). In 1920 he worked in the Borovichi Museum in 1921-1922 - in the city library. In 1920, 6 of his paintings (4 portrait and 2 landscape) from his collection was transferred to the Russian Museum, and valuable books from its library in the Institute of Russian literature (Pushkin House) in Borovichskiy library. A few books from the library of A. I. with the bookplate of O. E. Braz stored in Borovichi Museum of local lore. In 1923 he moved to Petrograd and from there to London, where he died. In London he lived on the proceeds from the sale of paintings, which he painted from memory and based on sketches made in the vicinity of Borovichi. Borovich in the collection of the Museum includes two albums of pencil drawings of early 1920s, A. I. Anichkov types with us. Zalozenie and its environs.
