Biography and information

[22.10(3.11).1886, Petersburg, - 16.11.1964, Leningrad], the corresponding Member of the USSR (1943). Since 1919 the Hermitage. He taught at the Institute of art history (1922 - end of 20-ies), AH (1923), the University (1944-51) in Leningrad. Dealt with the problems of attribution and systematization of drawings housed in the museums of the USSR; made up of scientific catalogs of the Hermitage Museum: "Paintings of the Italian school of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries" (1940), "the Drawings of Rubens" (1940), "Paintings of the Flemish school XVII-XVIII centuries" (1955), "Drawings of the Italian school of XVII-XVIII centuries" (1961). The author of works devoted to Western European and Soviet chart. Member of the editorial Board of the "universal history of art" (1956-66). Awarded the order of Labor red banner and medals.
