Biography and information

(13.XII.1893,Smolensk – 10.IX.1930, Moscow, executed) was Born in a family of teachers. Graduated from Smolensk grammar school in 1917 – Moscow state University (philological faculty). Worked in Smolensk on public education. Participated in the artistic life of post-revolutionary Smolensk, studied in the Studio of the proletcult from Vladimir Shtraniha, N. Yablonski, C. Stefano, P. Lorencova. In 1922 entered the Moscow higher art workshops (VHUTEMAS), in 1927, finished (already a VHUTEIN). Was a student of V. Favorsky. Since 1927, the permanent Exhibitor of art exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Landscapes, portraits, bookplates, publishing characters, illustrations, book design, magazines, creative range of the artist. In June 1930 he was arrested and sentenced to capital punishment. 20 Sep shot. Now rehabilitated. In 1987, the artist's sister gave the Smolensk Museum 35 works (prints) P. In 1990 in the Smolensk art gallery these works were exhibited. The collection of works of P. are kept in the Museum of fine arts and the Tretyakov gallery (Moscow), Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) and abroad.
