Since 1914, intermittently studied at the Bogolyubov drawing school. During the civil war, along with other graduates of the school were sent to the Caucasian front as an artist of the Political Department. In 1930-e years have drawn for the newspaper "Pravda Saratov region".

Sofin died defending Stalingrad. Original graphics and a selection of drawings of the artist published in the Newspapers, preserved in the family of his friend, artist and teacher CFS Alexander Sinitsyn. Cousin A. M. Sinitsyn, gave the Museum this small archive: pencil and watercolor drawings: portraits, landscapes, genre sketches, still lifes, and newspaper clippings with drawings and cartoons Sofyino, photos.
