He studied at the Moscow school of painting, in 1882 he entered the St. Petersburg Academy of arts. In the first year of study, he received small and large silver medal in 1885 for the execution of the program awarded the title of class artist of 2nd degree, in 1889, for the painting "Gifts dining room" (RM) – class artist of the 3rd degree.
