Biography and information

Expat. From 1924 he lived in Paris, where he attended the Académie de la Grand Chaumière. He worked in Marseille, the École des Beaux-Arts, then in Toulouse (since 1939). In 1947 he returned to Paris, where he opened the Galerie Jeanne Bucher first solo exhibition, which was presented by him as one of the most prominent artists of the new École de Paris. In 1949, the Galerie Maeght in Paris held an exhibition together with the avant-garde group “Les Mains Éblouies” and received the Prize Kandinsky. He exhibited works in major galleries the Galerie Denise René Galerie Henri Bénézit. In 1951 he was commissioned to do three large murals for the École Langevin at Suresnes. Shortly after the end of this work, was found dead in his Studio. A retrospective show of the artist's works was organized in Paris at the Museum of modern art (1965) and in the Center of modern art in Villeneuve-d'asq. Works are kept in these museums and in the Museum of fine arts in Nantes.
