After seven years of service in the position volnoprihodyaschego student of the Academy (1843-1850) K. Schultz received the title of class artist. His artistic aspirations were directed to the low genre. However, the persistence of the painter is of deep respect: in 1855, he recognized "designated" in academics for the painting "domestic scene". Next year for the artist was the place to be even more important event: the painting "a Journeyman Cabinet-maker asks the daughter of his master" brings the artist to the honorary and well deserved the title of academician. Scenes of folk life in Russian art stubbornly forcing their way on. Recall that before the organization of the Association of traveling art exhibitions, with its great weight of representation of genre paintings remained fifteen years in 1870.
