The son of a tailor of St. Petersburg. In 1807, admitted to the Academy of arts on account of A. S. Stroganov as an orphan. In 1817 - 2 silver medal. Released from the Academy of arts in 1821 with a certificate of 1st degree and the title of artist of historical painting. Lithographed for the society and for private orders.
