National artist, member of the Academy of artists, laureate of the State prize, the Lenin prize. Childhood and youth in Smolensk, where he graduated from high school № 7. He studied at the Moscow art Institute, and teaches there as a Professor. The participant of the great Patriotic war. A Karbala, a large number of monuments to outstanding leaders of government, science and culture, military commanders, installed in many cities of Russia, foreign countries. The author of the monument to V. I. Lenin, Y. Gagarin, installed in Smolensk; the monument of “Grieving mother” on a mass grave of civilians killed during the war in the town of Rudnia. Honorary citizen of Sofia, and other cities. People's artist of USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of Lenin and State prizes of the USSR , member of USSR Academy of Arts Lev Efimovich Kerbel is one of the largest Soviet sculptors – their talent , their creativity have done much for the development of a new socialist culture. Kerbel can be called a man with a happily-established careers.
