  Edit

It is sometimes called Gaspard Poussin, by the name of his famous teacher and relative of Nicolas Poussin. Dughet was one of the first landscape artists in Europe. In his works, he embodied a particular individual perception of nature. Later, he experienced a clear influence of the classical style of Poussin. Dughet was working unusually fast, he wrote large cycles of landscapes, such as the series of twenty-five species for the main hall of Palazzo Doria Pamphilj in Rome. One of the most famous works of the artist — fresco cycle of the life of the prophet Elijah (the second half of 1630-ies) in the Church of San Martino di Monti in Rome.
