Biography and information

Childhood in the village vorobyevo Sokolsky district. Took pictures, played the accordion, but the main passion has always been drawing. He could draw a portrait in 30 seconds.

In 1964 he entered the philological Department of the Vologda pedagogical Institute. In 1977 he graduated from the school-Studio of the artist Schukin in the city of Yaroslavl. The artist's talent and ability to own the word embodied on a post of the responsible Secretary in Boksitogorskiy rayon newspaper, which was given 25 years. V. I. Mantashev had encyclopedic knowledge, especially well versed in art, literature; he wrote poems and prose. Several poems included in the book-album "Victor Mantashev: the Man and the artist". He left behind a lasting legacy – a collection of book-plates (about 400 copies), numerous portraits, sketches. As an artist, he scored about 3 dozen books: collections of poems by A. Romanova, V. Lapshin, S. Potekhina, etc. Regularly participated in collective and personal exhibitions of bookplates in the Soviet Union and abroad: Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Canada, Japan, etc. participated in the Moscow international book exhibition-fair in 1987, the winner of the contest on the best emblem is the mascot of the exhibition.
