Born in Borispol near Kiev. He studied in the icon workshop Kiev-Pechora Lavra in class I. izhakevich (1904-1907) and Kyiv art school (1907-1913). Worked in the Kiev Newspapers and magazines, illustrated children's books. In 1943 he moved to Lviv.
