Biography and information

(05.05.1882, St. Petersburg, 1950, Leningrad)

Finished the Ethnographic Department of the Leningrad state University in 1925. Was a student at the school of the Society of Encouragement of Arts. From 1918 to 1920 he worked in the Cultural Department of the city of Petrograd. From 1921 to 1932, was involved in organizing children's clubs and colonies. From 1932 to 1951 the Museum of the Arctic in Leningrad. In 1930-e years was a member of a number of expeditions in the North as an artist. He worked in technique of oil and watercolor. Themes of works: tundra landscape, panoramic images of the Northern settlements, the fixation outgoing nature , being displaced by a new way of life . Work N.D.Travin is stored in the National art Museum of Yakutia, the Yakut State Museum of history and culture of the peoples of the North it. E. M. Yaroslavsky, State Museum of Arctic and Antarctic in St. Petersburg, private collections.
