Biography and information

Honored artist of Belarus (1967). He taught at the Vitebsk and Minsk art schools. He worked primarily in watercolors. Created landscapes, portraits, still lifes.

Born on 13 Mar 1896 in Petrikov (Mozyr., Minsk gubernia; now the center of Petrikov district, Gomel region, Belarus). Died 20 Sep 1974.

In 1916-1917 he studied at the Studio of Professor Yu R. Bershad in Odessa from 1921 to 1930 — the school YM Peng in Vitebsk. In 1937 he graduated from training courses at the Russian Academy of arts in Leningrad.

Worked in watercolors, pastels, gouaches.

Wrote the lyric and industrial landscapes, thematic compositions, portraits, still lifes.

Among the works of the artist — a series of papers "Woman, the" (1957); series about the red Army (1939); the series "On the defensive lines near Moscow" (1943); dedicated to the workers of the Minsk tractor, automobile, time plants, Gomselmash; the cycles of watercolors about the new Minsk (1970), "Lenin places" (1969), etc.

From 1927 to 1941 he taught at the Vitebsk art school from 1947 to 1958 — in the Minsk art College.

He was awarded medals and Honorary diploma of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR.
