The life of Mikhail Makarovich Sazhin largely for us is a mystery due to the paucity of information on his life extant. Art historians and art critics did not leave any lengthy dissections of his work.

That he was not deprived of a well-known artistic abilities, according to years of stay young, M. Sazhin as volnoprihodyaschego student in the Academy of fine arts (1834-1840). After graduating from the Academy with the rank of class artist, he is called, a drop began to increase their skill. By 1854 it reached the level which gives the right to receive from the Academy the title of "appointed". In 1855, for the painting "Interior view of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev" the artist was awarded the prestigious title of academician.

Apparently, in the future, without rising to great heights, but not falling below a good skill level, M. Sazhin painted landscapes, perspectives and interiors. The and left its furrow in the field of Russian art of the mid XIX century.
