Born in the village of Maksimovo Polotsk district, Vitebsk province. Grew up in a small Belarusian town of Bykhau.

In Leningrad came in 1926, Painting and drawing began to study art in the Studio AHRR A. R. Eberlinga. In 1930 he entered the preparatory courses of the Leningrad Vhuteina and the following year was accepted into it. To finish College was in the workshop of D. N. Kardovsky, but in 1937, in connection with the illness interrupted training. In the same year was sent to teach at the Penza art school, where he worked for 2 years before being drafted into the army. From 1939 to 1941 he served in the army in Transbaikalia and Mongolia. From the first days of the great Patriotic war, fought at the front. There in 1943 he joined the party. He commanded a tank battalion. Awarded military orders and medals. Five times he was seriously wounded. In September 1944, he was demobilized as an invalid. From 1944 to 1947 he taught at the art school at the Moscow art Institute. V. I. Surikov. In 1946 became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. C 1947 taught at the Department of painting of the Leningrad College of industrial arts. V. I. Mukhina. In 1851 he graduated from the Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. Ilya Repin, writing and defending his thesis painting "Motherhood". Participated in exhibitions since 1939

Made a number of creative travel around the country (Pskov, Staraya Ladoga, Tallinn, Galich, Kostroma, Suzdal, Vladimir, Torzhok, Transcarpathia, Crimea, Lithuania). Visited France (1972) and Italy (1975). He died in 1992
