Biography and information

With the history of modern art of the Tula arms intertwined creative activity of the artist-engraver Ivan V. Shcherbina.

He was born may 30, 1938, in Tula. In 1958, after graduating from technical school No. 1, having received the profession of engraver, came to Tula arms plant. The path to mastery was not easy. First, there was the work of ordinary guns. But at this stage, the samples decorated novice engraver, distinguished by careful execution.

I. Shcherbina was constantly studying, learning from the experience of the famous Tula gunsmiths - M. I. Pochukaev, V. F. Beloventseva, M. I. Glagoleva. Played a major role familiarity with the collections of the Tula arms Museum, the State Armoury chamber of the Moscow Kremlin, where the young master was studying classic examples of the art weapons. Then in the experimental shop began the search for his style, technique, types of ornamentation.

In June, 1969, I. V. Shcherbina, the first in our country, was awarded the classification of the artist-engraver of the first class.

Shcherbina special place is occupied by guns, made to celebrate various anniversaries in the history of the country and of the Tula edge: on the 40th anniversary of Victory, the Day of cosmonautics, the Olympic games, the anniversary of the Tula arms factory, the 150th anniversary of the birth of L. N. Tolstoy, the 600th anniversary of the battle of Kulikov and many others. Moreover, I. V. Shcherbina was not only a master performer, and author of sketches.

His work is distinguished by a masterly technique, unique compositions, elegance of lines, the variety of ways artistic finishing of metal and wood.

A gun, designed I. V. Shcherbina, was exhibited at the International exhibitions in Germany, Poland, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey and other countries. The wizard is decorated with Tula state arms Museum, private collections in our country and abroad.

About I. V. Shcherbina it is possible to speak not only as a talented, original, demanding engraver and cutter, but also an outstanding landscape. Happily linking up with a main profession, painting was his second calling, inner need. Favorite genre in the works of Shcherbina landscape. He traveled extensively in the country. Painted The Urals, The Crimea, The Carpathians And The Caucasus. But always come back to landscapes Central Russia, which are a special lyricism. His paintings show the surrounding area of the Oka, Yasnaya Polyana, Polenovo, the picturesque parts of his native city.

I. Shcherbina share a commitment to authentic and poetic transmission of a live, immediate admiration for the beauty of nature in all its manifestations. The love of art, sense of purpose allowed the wizard in the painting to achieve great success. His works were exhibited at the exhibitions of Amateur artists in the museums of Tula and Moscow.

I. Shcherbina - restless, creative person. He is not indifferent to the fate of traditional Russian crafts, and Tula art weapons, and the training of new masters.

In the 1970s, I. V. Shcherbina headed folk clubs of Amateur art "Lefty", "Nugget" became the initiator of creation of the Union of Tula craftsmen, considering the main directions of their activities to involve creativity of the youth, preservation and enhancement of the great traditions of the Tula art processing of metal and wood.

He has repeatedly raised in the media the question about necessity of creation in Tula special education: applied-arts school or College.

In 1991, I. V. Shcherbina, together with a group of associates founded OOO "Revival" (2002 - "the revival of the crafts"), becoming its President. Now the society is a member of the Association "National art crafts of Russia". Craftsmen companies have been exhibited at exhibitions both in our country and abroad.

Years of work I. V. Shcherbina was awarded and honorary titles: in 1987 he was the only one in our country to the engraver - was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor, in 1977, awarded the order of Glory 3rd degree, in 1981 - the order of the red banner of Labor. He is a laureate of prize "For big contribution to the revival of the culture and morals of the city of Tula". In 1999 he was awarded the title "Honorary citizen of the city of Tula" and "Honored artist of Russia".
