Teacher Chevakinsky was the architect Ivan Korobov. After leaving Korobov in Moscow on Chevakinsky was responsible for supervising construction works for buildings of the Navy Department in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt. In 1745 he was appointed architect of Tsarskoye Selo, where he worked for almost 15 years, while at the same time chief architect of the Admiralty Board and participating in the development of several projects for St. Petersburg. A special place in the life and work of Chevakinsky is his work in Academy of Sciences. Here he had to lead students, sent from Moscow University to determine in the Academy of arts and temporarily enrolled in the academic gymnasium.
