Livonia native. In 1841 SPb. Academy of Arts recognized him as "assigned" and set the program for the title of academician: "Livland peasant wedding"; in 1845 the title of class artist for the painting: "Playing the hurdy-gurdy of the Savoyard". (Kondakov)
