Biography and information

Born in Krasnodar Krai in 1952 the family moved to Murmansk oblast. Since the childhood liked to draw, collect art books. In many ways to understand and experience the beauties helped mother Aug afanasevna, the teacher, who gave 37 years of teaching and parenting. Before noticing his son's passion for drawing, she tried to develop it. With 14 years of Vasily Ivanovich worked in ship repair workshops, continuing education at night school, then graduated from Abramtsevo art-industrial school named after Vasnetsov. After his graduation he worked in the experimental factory "Karelian Souvenirs" in Petrozavodsk and taught at children's art school in Kurganska Krasnodar region.

 

V. I. Shevchenko's works in the genre of decorative-applied art, using sometimes quite exotic materials: mahogany, mammoth or walrus ivory, the tooth of a sperm whale. He is the participant of many exhibitions, including the all-Union exhibition of professional artists in Moscow (1972), exhibition of young artists of Karelia in Petrozavodsk (1972), zonal exhibition "the Soviet South" (1974), Republican exhibition "Soviet Russia" (1975), art exhibitions among groups of compressor stations enterprises "Severgazprom" in Ukhta (1993) and others. At present Vasily lives in Riga and works as a graphic designer in gryazovetsky LPUMG.
