Biography and information

Painter and graphic artist, nationality Italian. Born in Rome in January, 1756. From 1796 he lived permanently in Russia. In 1812, at the approach to Moscow Napoleon's troops, the artist left the capital to Vladimir, where he lived for about three years. In Vladimir tonchi wrote most of the scenic picture on the subject of baptism and gave it to the local Museum. Back in Moscow, within 25 years was an inspector of classes of the drawing school of architecture; he has executed a number of portraits (Derzhavin, Rostopchina, etc.). Creativity tonchi has the features of realism. In the collections of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-reserve is stored, donated by the artist painting several of his paintings and graphic works 106. He died in Moscow in December 1844.
